Following the UC3 tender process, Relevent NewCo was awarded the commercial rights to the UEFA men’s club competitions (Champions League, Europa League and Conference League) on a global basis for the 2027 to 2033 cycle. 

As such, Relevent NewCo is now seeking to build a truly world class business focused on the monetisation of these commercial rights.  

Role Overview 

Relevent NewCo’s Head of Strategy, Media will be an impactful member of the newly formed media team, reporting to the Director of Strategy and Partner Operations, Media. The Head of Strategy, Media will be instrumental in developing Relevent NewCo’s commercial media strategy, working closely with a global media sales team to assess trends and define opportunities. They will ensure that the sales strategy represents the optimum commercialisation of the available media rights inventory, enabling the sales team to achieve industry leading revenue figures. They will work closely with UC3 and teams from across Relevent NewCo to create a media strategy that supports and develops the wider UEFA Men’s Club Competitions commercial strategy. Where appropriate, they will assist UC3 on reviewing potential enhancements to the UEFA Men’s Club Competitions and the available commercial rights, including providing detailed assessments and valuations. 

The Head of Strategy, Media will contribute to a collaborative, dynamic and visionary culture in Relevent NewCo’s media team. They will be an experienced, personable executive, able to quickly build trust and cross-functional relationships. 

The Head of Strategy, Media will possess a deep knowledge of the business of sports media, with a strong understanding of the key trends impacting the sector. They will have an interest in football and be driven to contribute to the growth of the UEFA Men’s Club Competitions. 

The Head of Strategy, Media will be based in Relevent NewCo’s London office.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • A leading role in the development and delivery of Relevant NewCo’s commercial strategy for global media rights monetisation.   

  • Partner with the media sales team to assess wider global trends and commercial opportunities on a global, regional and territorial basis.  

  • Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders on all global media sales forecasts for Relevent NewCo.  

  • Work closely with all other teams in Relevant NewCo to ensure the media department's commercial strategy aligns with, and delivers on, the organisation’s ambition and plan. 

  • Work across all departments of Relevent NewCo and with UC3 to define the optimum commercialisation of available media rights inventory.  

  • Deliver clear and robust recommendations to UC3 on all elements of the continuing development of UEFA Men’s Club Competitions and commercialisation of available media rights inventory.  

  • Produce internal and external analysis, recommendations, sales materials and presentations. 

  • Opportunity to work on some direct media rights sales in certain territories.  

Required Experience & Skills  

  • 7+ years of professional experience, including extensive experience in sports media rights. 

  • Proven track record of defining and delivering successful media rights strategies and adding significant commercial value to properties. 

  • Proven ability to deliver clear, decisive recommendations on complex commercial issues to senior stakeholders. 

  • Innovative mindset with the ability to create new media rights strategies.  

  • Exceptional communication and management skills with a clear focus on maintaining the highest industry standards. 

  • Strong attention to detail, rigorous in approach and ability to problem solve complex issues. 

  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, comfortable building internal and external relationships at all levels 

  • Strategic mindset and deep global knowledge of sports media trends, both established and emerging.  

  • Analytical and numerate. 

  • Professional services / consulting background advantageous. 

  • Fluency in multiple languages preferred.

George Williams joined TurnkeyZRG in 2023 to lead the organization’s international expansion into Europe. Based in London, he brings over 15 years of executive search experience across Sport & Media. George will also work closely with ZRG’s Sucherman division to support its ongoing growth in the region. Prior to joining TurnkeyZRG, George was a Partner at Savannah Group, where he led and grew the organization’s Sport & Media Practice across Europe. He previously served at Odgers Berndtson as an Associate, supporting the launch of their Sports Practice and leading the delivery of multiple assignments.

Rick Alessandri - Managing Director, Media & Sports Tech

Rick Alessandri joined TurnkeyZRG in 2018 to help launch and grow the company’s media and tech search practice. Mr. Alessandri's vast network and 30+ years of industry experience have led to placements of Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s Regional Sports Network’s General Manager and SVP, Digital Media, Regional Sports Network, DAZN’s Chief Communications Officer and Vice President, Media, Major League Rugby’s Commissioner and C360 Technologies’ CEO to name a few. Prior to joining TurnkeyZRG, Rick held senior level positions with Univision as EVP, Enterprise Development and ESPN as Chief of Staff to ESPN President George Bodenheimer, CXO of the X Games and SVP of ESPN Enterprises.

Henry McCreery - Senior Associate

Henry McCreery joined TurnkeyZRG in early 2025 as a Senior Associate, based in London. Specialising in the global search for C-Suite and Board-level executives for high-impact roles, Henry leverages an extensive network developed through a history of working with prominent teams, leagues, and national and international governing bodies in the sport, media, and entertainment industry. In his role, he leads the delivery and execution of search processes and supports TurnkeyZRG's rapidly growing practice in the EMEA region.

Prior to joining TurnkeyZRG, Henry served as a Research Analyst in the Global Sports, Media & Gaming Practice at Odgers Berndtson. He holds a BA Hons degree in History and Politics from Newcastle University.

Paddy Hickey - Senior Associate

Paddy Hickey joined TurnkeyZRG in 2024 as a Senior Associate. Based in London, Paddy will focus on leading and executing cross-functional executive search processes for a broad range of clients in European sport, media and entertainment. Prior to joining TurnkeyZRG, Paddy was an Associate at SRI.

Paddy has a track record of identifying and placing top talent on behalf of clients that include rights holders, governing bodies, international sporting federations, Premier League football clubs and Formula 1 teams. His experience encompasses a broad range of functions, having built expertise in commercial, finance, legal, technology, HR and sustainability assignments.
